Michelberger hotel (Berlin)
Whacky and goofy, the Michelberger Hotel is typical of what is expected of Berlin: creative atmosphere, playful design aesthetic, friendly staff. The nice bar/lounge area is great at any time of the day. People of all kinds enjoy lying on sofas while nonchalantly sipping a freshly-made smoothie. There’s a large terrace for the sunny days. Everything is cool there. Even the neighborhood : it’s located in the very heart of hype Friedrichshain, East Berlin, not far from famous Berghain nightclub, so it’s easy to combine the two in a row. The Michelberger hotel is also in close proximity to the emerging areas of Kreuzberg and Neukölln, where restaurants, cafés and bars abound. On top of that, East Side Gallery – the largest remaining painted stretch of the Berlin Wall – is just around the corner. If you’re on a budget and cannot afford a night (around $100), I recommend to pass by to have coffee or brunch – they are said amazingly good !
